Volunteer Cadets support Wings & Wheels this August Bank Holiday

Visitors to Wings & Wheels this Bank Holiday get the extra benefit of being under the care of the Sussex Wing Air Training Corps Volunteers and Cadets.
Supporting the show for over six years now, the Air Cadet volunteers hail from 23 squadrons in Sussex Wing spread across East and West Sussex. The Cadets will be at the Surrey aerodrome showcasing their skills and teamwork as well as a "can do" approach by assisting and supporting Wings & Wheels on the showground on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th August.

Air Cadets, whatever their level, have the opportunity to try their hand at military skills and drills – rifle shooting and field craft. The Cadet training provides the skills needed to survive and navigate around outdoors and unfamiliar places from one point to another with speed and efficiency. Already this year many of the cadets will have experienced the thrill and excitement of a flight in a Grob Tutor with a qualified pilot, taken the controls and even experienced some of the aerobatics on display over the weekend.

You will also see evidence of the cadet training when two ex-cadets of the Sussex Wing Air Training Corps take to the sky as part of the Hawk display Team from RAF Valley in an explosive demonstration.

If you have dreams of joining the air force or wish to be part of a high quality, modern and dynamic youth organisation, you will have the opportunity over the Wings &Wheels weekend to visit the recruitment trailer located in the show ground and chat to the team.

Jamie McAllister, Event Director, comments: "We are extremely grateful to the Sussex Wing Air Training Corps who have supported Wings & Wheels for over six years. The cadets are an invaluable asset to the show and help guide visitors around the arena, assist our hospitality guests, help marshal the 747 tours and sell souvenir programmes. Pop down to their recruitment stand in the arena to find out more about what they do."
